1. What is TTCL Mobile?

ANSWER:
  • It is a high quality 3G digital wireless communication service based on the Code Division multiple Access (CDMA) technology.
  • It is available on fixed wireless terminals and handheld phones combining numerous services on a single wireless line like voice, data, SMS, fax and multimedia.


  • 2. How do I activate my TTCL Mobile for the first time?

    ANSWER

  • A new customer will dial 073 and press send button to activate the line, Swahili and English "welcome notes" will be heard and then the customer will be prompted to select the language of preference


  • 3. How to get the top up voucher?

    ANSWER

    TTCL Rafiki Top up will be available everywhere countrywide at TTCL counters, retail shops, street kiosks, super markets, petrol stations, etc in a wide range of denominations:

    4. How do I recharge my mobile account?

    ANSWER:

    There are three ways to recharge TTCL Mobile account.
    a. Direct recharging
  • Enter 104?plus 12-digits revealed from your Rafiki top up card followed by #
  • Press send button
  • Listen to the voice prompt and press 1 to confirm
  • Listen to your new balance.
  • b. Recharging by listening to voice prompts
  • Dial 104 and listen to voice prompts
  • Press 1 to recharge your account or press 2 to recharge other person's account
  • Enter 12-digits from your Rafiki top up card followed by #
  • Listen to the announcements and press 1 to confirm
  • You will receive an SMS confirming your new balance.
  • c. Recharging using SMS
  • Open SMS box and type 111? plus 12-revealed digits from your Rafiki top up card
  • Send to 104
  • A short message with your new balance will be displayed.


  • 5. How do I know the balance from my mobile phone?

    ANSWER:

    There are three ways to check the balance.
    a. Direct check
  • Dial ?102#
  • You will receive an SMS confirming your current balance.
  • b. Check by listening to voice prompts
  • Dial 102
  • Listen to voice prompts for your current balance.
  • c. Check using SMS
  • Open SMS box and write in small letters the word balance
  • Send to 102
  • A message for your current balance will be displayed.


  • 6. How do I transfer balance to another TTCL mobile phone?

    ANSWER:

  • Enter 888?amount to be transferred?destination telephone number #
  • Press dial button
  • You will receive an SMS confirming the balance transferred.


  • 7. How do I change to per SECOND or MINUTE charging?

    ANSWER:

  • Dial 100 and select the language
  • Press 8 to listen to your current charge band
  • Press 1 to change to MINUTE charging or 2 to SECOND charging


  • 8. What is the procedure of making calls?

    ANSWER:

  • Dial the destination number directly
  • Press send button


  • 9. What is the procedure to get delivery report after I send message?

    ANSWER:

    The procedure depends on type of the phone and it is included in phone menu. Customers are advised to visit their phone dealers for more details.

    10. What is the procedure to write and send SMS?

    ANSWER:

    The procedure depends on type of the phone and it is included in phone menu. Customers are advised to visit their phone dealers for more details.

    11. What makes a warning message 'Emergency Mode' appear on my TTCL Mobile screen?

    ANSWER:

    When there is any mis-operation on the handset or inserting into the TTCL phone wrong SIM card from other mobile operator. To clear that problem, customer is advised to do the following:
  • Switch off the phone
  • Properly insert TTCL Mobile RUIM card
  • Switch on the phone
  • Enter 1234 as a default PIN
  • Then press or select OK


  • 12. What makes a mobile line block or restrict?

    ANSWER:

    When there are more than three wrong recharge attempts or RUIM card is not properly inserted into the phone. Customer is advised to call TTCL Call Centre on 100 for assistance.

    13. What do I do to change language of instruction?

    ANSWER:

  • Dial 100 and select the language
  • Press 6 and listen to change the language.
  • 14. What do I do if I want to continue using the same number in TTCL Mobile that I was using with other national mobile operators?

    ANSWER:

    Customer is advised to call TTCL Call Centre on 100 or visit nearest TTCL Customer Care office for assistance.

    15. What is the procedure if I want to change my new TTCL mobile telephone number back to the previous one if the old RUIM card is blocked, damaged or ruined?

    ANSWER:

    Customer is advised to call TTCL Call Centre on 100 or visit nearest TTCL Customer Care office for assistance.

    16. Can another mobile operator line operate in TTCL Mobile phone or vise versa?

    ANSWER:

    No, unless that other operator is owning same network technology as TTCL Mobile or the phone is designed to handle dual technologies CDMA and GSM.

    17. If my TTCL mobile hand held got damaged beyond repair after few days in use then later I decided to buy another phone while I still have credit balance and free SMS in the damaged phone. Is it possible to transfer the credit and free SMS into my new phone?

    ANSWER:

    Yes it is possible. Customer is advised to call TTCL Call Centre on 100 or visit nearest TTCL Customer Care office for assistance.

    18. May I be able on my TTCL Mobile line to use voice and data at the same time as I do for Broad Band on fixed copper?

    ANSWER:

    No, however you can receive SMS while you are accessing either voice or data.
